Gene Synthesis 3–5 kb

Sequences between 3 and 5 kb push the limits of standard gene fragment services. Fewer providers cover this range, and prices tend to be higher. Here is a comparison for a representative 4000 bp sequence.

Frequently asked questions

Which providers can synthesise genes between 3 and 5 kb?

Twist Bioscience supports fragments and clonal genes up to 5 kb. Elegen offers linear and plasmid DNA up to 7 kb and 15 kb respectively. Most other fragment providers cap at 1.5–3 kb.

Is long gene synthesis more expensive per base pair?

Not necessarily for per-bp priced products. Twist and Elegen charge the same per-bp rate regardless of length within their supported range. However, complexity-related surcharges are more common for longer sequences due to repetitive regions and secondary structures.
